The eighth week of the 2025 National Football League season is now underway. Remarkably, there were only two games heading into the week where both teams are above .500. Let’s take a look at the games featuring the Buffalo Bills and the surprising Carolina Panthers as well as the Pittsburgh Steelers hosting the Green Bay Packers.

Buffalo Bills @ Carolina Panthers

The Bills are in second place in the AFC East with a record of four wins and two losses, and the Panthers are in second place in the NFC South with a record of four wins and three losses.

The Panthers have won three straight games. In that time, they have beaten the Miami Dolphins 27-24, the Dallas Cowboys 30-27, and the New York Jets 13-6. In the wins over the Dolphins and Cowboys, Panthers running back Rico Dowdle of Gaffney, South Carolina was an absolute beast as he combined for 473 total yards. Then in the Panthers win over the Jets this past weekend, the big story was the Panthers defense as they limited the Jets to 81 yards rushing and 172 yards passing. The Jets did not score a single touchdown, and were limited to a field goal in each half.

The Bills have lost their last two games after starting the season 4-0. They were beaten in two prime time contests. The first loss came to the New England Patriots by a score of 23-20, and the second loss came to the Atlanta Falcons by a score of 24-14. The Bills have dominated the AFC East since Tom Brady left the Patriots for Tampa Bay, and now all of a sudden it is the Bills in catch up mode as they are one game back of the Patriots in the division.

Green Bay Packers @ Pittsburgh Steelers

Anyway you look at it, this game will be all about future Hall of Fame quarterback Aaron Rodgers of Chico, California. Rodgers was with the Packers for 18 years from 2005 to 2022, where he was the MVP four times and won the Super Bowl once. After two seasons with the New York Jets (one season where he had a season-ending injury in week one), Rodgers joined the Steelers this season. So far, Pittsburgh leads the AFC North at four wins and two losses. Green Bay leads the NFC North with a record of four wins, one loss, and one tie.
