Walker, 41, spent the past six seasons coaching running backs at Pittsburgh but was out of a job after Panthers head coach Dave Wannstedt was forced to resign.
Walker coached running backs at Syracuse from 1995-2004. He has coached eight backs who have gone on to the NFL, including the Philadelphia Eagles’ LeSean McCoy.
