Tip to Oehser, a Boston fixture names Manning QB of the decade
What separated Manning from Brady by the thinnest of margins was twofold. First, his statistical dominance in nearly every quarterbacking measureable and second, he is the only quarterback in the past 20-25 years who calls his own plays.
While Tom Moore is the author of the Colts’ game plan and has his game day suggestions, it is Manning who calls the bulk of the plays. Sunday was a good example, when play after play Manning overrode Moore’s run calls for pass plays. The result? A 30-17 rout of the league’s No. 1 ranked defense in the AFC Championship Game.
In the end that was the final chip that won the debate – Manning runs his own shop. But understand this – if you told me I had to have Tom Brady as my quarterback I’d be fine with that, too.
