Nice piece by Kravitz on some real student athletes
But noooooo. The Butler boys, students first, have to go to class. You think the kids from West Virginia, Duke and Michigan State — who already will be in Indianapolis by Thursday — are going to spend Friday locked up in a hotel room listening to some online lecture from a professor?
Whatever happened to home-court advantage?
“Thursday we have practice at Lucas Oil (Stadium) and some mandatory media sessions, so we’ll shuttle guys back for some of their afternoon classes,” Stevens said early Tuesday morning, with the rising sun casting rectangular beams of light onto the Hinkle Fieldhouse court. “Then Friday, a couple of our guys have morning classes before the open practice (at The Luke) at noon, so we’ll shuttle them back to campus.”
I have no way of confirming this as fact, but I’ve got to believe Butler is the first team in the storied history of the Final Four whose players will be required to go to class the day before the national semifinal game.
