EYE jinxed Gus Bradley last time we had a head coaching change in the Land of Evergreen…I was sure Gus was on the Eagles bus, even going so far as to track his airport sightings. Man was I wrong. Chip Kelly blasted ahead of Gus in the final lap of interviews to take the cake. Gus ended up in Jacksonville.
For the better part of two seasons it looked like the Eagles got it right. Then a funny thing happened on the way to the Phorum— Chip the G.M. got Chip the head coach fired.
Would the Eagles be better off now had Gus Bradley been the hire in 2013? It’s impossible to say that with any scientific certainty. You can look at what Gus has accomplished in Jacksonville and the best you could say right now is “maybe”…
But it seemed the minute I did a feature profile on Gus touting him as the next head coach of the Eagles, Chip Kelly’s camp did a reverse spin move and reopened negotiations with the Eagles. Within 24 hours it was a done deal.
So at the risk of jinxing Adam Gase and the short-term future of the franchise, here it is—meet your new head coach of the Philadelphia Eagles!

It’s really not official yet—Gase is coming in later this weekend for a second interview. But my money is on Gase, barring a last-minute letter-of-intent submitted by Jim Bob Cooter.
