A Giants Fan’s Tribute to Westy

Brian Westbrook, star all-purpose back for the Eagles from 2002 to 2009, was released from the team yesterday.

I’ve got nothing yet to say on the end of Brian Westbrook’s career with the Philadelphia Eagles. I’m thinking Alex will have plenty to say about it later. There are a lot of metrics involved in why things went down this way—injury, arthritis, money, ego…and we may never know the whole truth.

For now, allow me to direct you to the piece written by Andy Furman of  ULTIMATE GIANTS at http://www.ultimatenyg.com  entitled “In Praise of Brian Westbrook”.

Andy’s piece is a beautiful and unique look at Westy’s career from the perspective of a Giants fan… Although Westy was known as the “Giant Killer” for breaking hearts all around Giants Nation with his spectacular game-changing plays over the years, you may be pleasantly surprised to learn from Andy that this young man from Villanova was respected and admired by many in the Giants camp.

I can’t top Andy’s tribute, and I won’t try…Coming from a Giants fan,  Andy’s tribute to Westbrook carries more weight than I could ever provide.
