The two sides haven’t had a formal bargaining session since mid-November, but as players broke into small groups for several meetings on Wednesday, a union spokesman said that NFL Players Association executive director DeMaurice Smith and NFL commissioner Roger Goodell were meeting face-to-face meeting in New York — continuing their dialogue despite the absence of large-group negotiations.
