Coming back from injury

FO looks at guys who were hurt last year.  All I want to know is how Mike Chappell’s comment about not knowing Gonzo’s status has morphed into “he’s not cleared to play”?

Anthony Gonzalez, WR, Indianapolis Colts

Estimated return: July

Manning is fickle. When Gonzalez went down in the first game of the season, he found someone else to catch his passes. Having Gonzalez back just means one more weapon for the Colts. Defensive coordinators around the AFC are just thrilled. Last year, Gonzalez had not one but three injuries in his right knee. He sprained his PCL, then had a scope to repair the meniscus, then had an infection that slowed healing. He has healed up, but there are some worrying signs. Gonzalez hasn’t been cleared for full activity, and there are whispers that he might not be full-go for training camp. If he’s not back nearly a year after the initial injury, he might not be coming back all the way. As we said, Manning has other options.
