Players currently under contract: Terron Armstead, Ben Grubbs, Jahri Evans, Bryce Harris, Marcel Jones, Tim Lelito, Ty Nsekhe, Senio Kelemente
Free Agents: Charles Brown, Zach Strief, Brian de la Puente
To me it's a major concern if either of Strief or De la Puente is lost in free agency.
It's not that either is so good that they're irreplaceable, it's that an offensive line is a unit and the whole is always greater than the sum of it's parts. They finally reached a place late last season where they were playing at a very high level together and it would be a shame to break that up now. They've finally reached that place of harmony where every guy knows what he has to do for the line to play well together. But still, even if both are kept we saw what having Tim Lelito as your primary (and only) interior backup meant when Jahri Evans was out injured. It wasn't pretty. The Saints not only need to make certain they retain their starters, they need to both develop the guys they have and add depth to create more competition among the backups. Bryce Harris is the one reserve that has shown some ability, but it would be nice to see a mix of veterans and young talent added this offseason to give this unit a big boost. For the record, I think Charles Brown is as good as gone and will not be back with the Saints in 2014. That bridge was burned the minute he was benched.
