To take the place of Clark’s roster spot, the Saints have added even more depth on the offensive line with…
tackle Jordan Black. Black is entering his 9th season in the NFL and he’s got lost of experience and 40 starts in his career. He was most recently a starter for the Jacksonville Jaguars last season, so he’s certainly a threat for a roster spot. Right now Zach Strief is playing with the starters at right tackle, so he’ll have to worry about not only incumbent start Jon Stinchcomb, but Black too. I’m guessing the veteran signings of Alex Barron and George Foster have failed to impress if they’re bringing in Black in as well. That’s an ungodly number of veteran offensive tackles in camp. Bushrod, Strief, Stinchcomb, Barron, Foster and Black. Yikes. 4 at best will make the team, and maybe just 3. Don’t forget 2nd year man Charles Brown is in the mix too, although a spot on IR becomes more and more likely to shelve him for a year. Still that’s a crowded and competitive mix at tackle, and it’ll be interesting to see who makes the team.
