Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here… highlighting the big story line. Because there’s nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump.
But over 97 games, the Warriors have had answers for everything — every type of team, every lineup, every matchup. As long as Green avoids foul trouble, the Warriors don’t particularly care whether you go big or small; they can be both at once. They are 46-3 at home, they haven’t lost four-in-seven at any point in this season, and you can count on them winning one or two games in which Curry and Thompson lose their minds.
It will be easier for Golden State to hide Curry than for the Cavaliers to find Irving a safe haven. This should be the series in which Cleveland finally feels the absence of Love — the one big who could provide both spacing and rebounding.
Toss in Irving’s knee and Cleveland’s shallow roster, and we’ll go with …
Warriors in six.
After what felt like a two month hiatus, the NBA Finals finally get underway tonight. If you have time for just one series preview, I recommend Zach Lowe’s 7 Questions That Will Shape the NBA Finals on Grantland.
I’ve been in the ABC (Anyone but Cleveland) camp since the season started. After watching LeBron and the Cavs breeze through the Eastern Conference, I’ve become concerned the city of Cleveland might finally win something.
But Lowe reminds us that the Warriors are the best time in the league and have been so since October.
My favorite excerpt from the article:
LeBron will get a ton of decent jumpers, and for the Cavs to win, he has to snap one of the worst jump-shooting slumps of his career. LeBron is shooting a wretched 33 percent on long 2s and an unthinkable 17.6 percent from deep in the playoffs.
He has become Rajon Rondo, and the Warriors will duck under picks until LeBron finds his stroke again:
Yikes.
I’m slightly worried the Warriors will come into the Finals with a deer-in-the-headlights look. As good as Steph Curry is, he’s never been on this stage. There’s always the possibility that nerves win out.
Go Ws. I badly want LeBron to carry around a 2-4 Finals record.
On Page 2, i Celtics giocheranno in Italia il prossimo preseason.
The Celtics will travel to Milan to face Olimpia Milano in a preseason game Oct. 6, the NBA announced Wednesday.
Olimpia Milano, a three-time Euroleague Champion, features former Providence star MarShon Brooks, who was selected by Boston with the 25th pick of the 2011 draft. The roster also includes Timberwolves draft pick Alessandro Gentile and former Cavaliers forward Samardo Samuels.
“I know there are passionate NBA fans in Italy,” Celtics guard Avery Bradley said, “and we look forward to an electric atmosphere on game night.”
So if you’re in Italy next October, you’ll have a chance to check out the Celtics.
Then again, I’m sure there are better things to do than watch MarShon Brooks go up against the Cs.
