Attention Brian Cashman: give A-Rod the cash, man.
Yes, I know you are angry about how his steroid stuff ruined the hype and marketing opportunities that the Yankees had originally put those “milestone payments” in his contract for.
Yes, I know that you have severe buyer’s remorse over A-Rod’s contract in general, even if he’s having a good year so far.
And, yes, I know that apparently the whole “payment for milestones” thing in the contract apparently allowed you to determine what was a milestone or not, although A-Rod, Scott Boras and a small fleet of lawyers is no doubt on the way to dispute that right now.
But, c’mon man, you made your bed. Now you have to lay in it. 660 is a milestone. I know it, Willie Mays himself knows it, and you know it too.
So pay the man his cash, man.
