The hype is finally over! Part 1

First off, I’m a little sorry my prelude to the draft hasn’t exactly been fulfilling. At least I don’t think I’ve done a masterful job in hyping it. Honestly, I kind of overkilled it a month ago when there was nothing to really talk about, except for the lockout. Anyways, here is how I feel about the draft: Any player that the Bills select with their first pick,  should be met with absolutely no sulking. Look, take away the Bills draft busts over the last 10 years, and whichever player gets selected, you can only assume (or pray to God) that he will be a impact player. Right now, the Bills have so many needs, they may as well be a spoiled, high maintenance, rich girlfriend from Long Island.

So, if they select Cam or Blaine, we should be happy because that’s eliminating the need for a franchise QB. If they select Von Miller or Marcell Dareus, we should be happy because we are eliminating the need for a legit defensive player on the front 7. Hell, if we go with Patrick Peterson, we get a much needed player in the secondary. The only way you can get pissed off is if the Bills select a running back or a wide receiver. In the end, no one knows if any of these guys will be legit NFL players. Now, if you are a legit college/draft expert, then I guess you can call it now. However, I’ve seen too many players who were hyped or torn down prior to the draft, who proved a lot of people wrong.

Bottom line: We should be happy with whoever the Bills take. Four years from now? Let the 2nd guessing begin. But for now, we should be happy. Anyways, even though I’ll be happy, I still have some preferential treatment when it comes to who I’d like for the Bills to go for. This is a the first part of a five part series, for what I’d like for the Bills to do with the 3rd pick.

5) Selecting Blaine Gabbert- I don’t know what it is, but there is something off about Blaine Gabbert. Look, I’m not going to pretend I watched a bunch of Missouri games, because I didn’t. Hell, I never even heard of the guy until Todd McShay said he was going in the top 10 after Andrew Luck decided to stay in school. I just can’t put my finger on it. It just seems like all these draft experts had lost Luck and then just decided to shove Gabbert in our mouths. If you read my Q&A about Gabbert, it didn’t seem like the Missouri writer was that blown away by his own QB. I mean, did this guy have a defining moment at Missouri? I mean he only had 16 touchdowns last year. Hell, Newton had 50! Alright, I’m sounding like I hate the guy, when I really don’t know much about the guy. If the Bills select him, you can only hope he’s a franchise QB. No bashing, but I’d rather go in a few different directions.
