HOLY TRADES AND NEGOTIATION, BATMAN.
As the resident Leafs fan here on BMR, I’m required to comment on the state of the trades made today by Brian Burke. After the initial HOLY CRAP IS THIS REAL LIFE reaction, it looks like here’s what went down, in bullet point form (after the jump)
- To the Leafs (from Flames) : D-man Dion Phaneuf, Right wing Fredrik Sjostrom and prospect Keith Aulie
- To the Flames (from the Leafs): Forwards Matt Stajan, Niklas Hagman, Jamal Mayers, and D-man Ian White
- To the Leafs (from the Anaheim Ducks): Jean-Sebastien Giguere
- To the Ducks (from the Leafs): Jason Blake and Vesa Toskala
Supposedly, Brian Burke has announced that he is still “open for business”, so there may be more for me to write about in the near future. I’ll cross that bridge when we get there.
Now, you’re going to hear all sorts of analysis about numbers, points, goals, and all that. But I’m a humor writer. What kind of jokes just got traded?
It looks to me like the Leafs just traded mustachulence, Toskala’s mahnpurrrse, Stajan’s Bedroom eyes, and Nik Hagman’s smoking hot wife for “getting Giggy with it” and “sloppy seconds” who walks like Frankenstein.
Well, crap.
Then I remembered that this video of Phaneuf exsited:

Now, I’d like to think he’s singing “Don’t stop Be-LEAFing”, but maybe that’s just me.
Then, there’s this gem of him trying to sing “Piano Man.” (linked because I can’t make an embedded version fit.) I didn’t realize there were that many bleeped out words in “Piano Man”, but maybe Phaneuf found the original draft?
Yep, I think I can live with this.
