Sports Media Weekly Podcast No. 29

After a week off due to the Great Flood of 2010, Keith Thibault of Sports Media Journal and yours truly are back with the Sports Media Weekly Podcast.

In this podcast, Keith and I talk about the Tiger Woods press conference and how he performed in front of some rather friendly reporters. We also discussed how ESPN and CBS would approach The Masters featuring Tiger this weekend.

In addition, we talk about the sensational ratings for the NCAA men’s basketball Championship Game for CBS. Keith and I exchange opinions on how Jim Nantz performed for CBS during the Final Four.

And to wrap up our segment, we welcome the return of baseball and the hiring of so many analysts by ESPN.

We then introduce our guest, Fox Sports Midwest Director of St. Louis Cardinals, Tom Mee, Jr., who has written a book, Cutting the Game: Inside Television Baseball From The Director’s Chair. With Tom, we ask him why he wrote the book, his influences in directing baseball on TV, the reasoning behind his positioning of cameras at Cardinals games, the innovations in TV over the year, how he treats certain special players like Albert Pujols and Mark McGwire and we get a couple of anecdotes.

It’s a good podcast and a fascinating listen. You can always go to iTunes to download today’s plus our previous editions by searching for “Sports Media Journal” or you can go here to listen.
