The Red Sox came into LA to face the Dodgers and a lot of former teammates. John Lackey took the mound for the Sox and had himself another stellar outing, but it ended up being a loss since he got no run support at all. The Dodgers got 2 runs off of Lackey and that would be enough.
The game ended up being a pitchers duel between Lackey and Nolasco. Lackey kept the game scoreless until the 4th inning when he made his only mistake of his outing. I had a feeling that one of the many former Sox who now play for the Dodgers would end up coming up big to hurt us and I was mistaken. The former Sox that did the damage was Hanley Ramirez when he hit a 2 run homerun to give the Dodgers the lead. Other than that, Lackey was pretty spectacular. He pitched 8 strong innings and was able to limit the Dodgers to just 2 runs. Unfortunately, Lackey didn't get any run support from his teammates and would get his 11th loss of the season. He'll never say it, but I am sure Lackey is growing quite tired of the lack of run support he is getting in his outings. The Sox bats were only able to get 2 hits off Nolasco and they weren't able to crack the scoreboard.
The Rays beat the Yankees yesterday, so the Sox are once again sharing 1st place in the AL East.
