The Red Sox came into the rubber game and were hoping for a series win to pull them 5-5 on their road trip. Jake Peavy was making his 3rd start vs. another former White Sox in Mark Buehrle. Peavy pitched well, but with only one run of support he got his 2nd loss with the Sox.
The Red Sox were able to crack the scoreboard first when they got a single run in the 4th inning when Nava scored when Ellsbury hit into a sac grounder. Sox 1-0. Peavy kept pitching scoreless after scoreless innings while the Sox kept getting on base and leaving them there against Buehrle. Peavy seemed to hit a wall in the 7th and gave up an RBI single to Lawrie to tie the game. Peavy was done for the night, but a runner was at third base with no outs when Breslow came into the game. DeRosa hit a sac fly off of Breslow to close the book on Peavy's night and to give the Blue Jays the lead. Peavy's pitching line for the night was 99 pitches, 6+ IP, 5 H, 2 R, 0 BB and 2 Ks. Unfortunately for Peavy, the Sox bats were unable to get anything else from the Blue Jays pitching and the team would fall 1-2.
