Should we be worried about the Buffalo Bills this season?

Remember the 2012 Buffalo Bills? They finished with a 6-10 record, and their preseason play was even more devastating. To refresh your memory, they dropped all four preseason games. So when the Buffalo Bills managed to notch wins in their first two preseason games this year, that got fans and NFL sports betting lines followers stoked.

Could this be the year the Bills actually turn things around and get Buffalo fans excited for football? Well, if the third preseason game is any indication, definitely not. The Bills’ first two wins were easily eclipsed by their 30-7 loss to the Washington Redskins, and that’s causing concern as we look ahead to the regular season schedule

Why is this a big deal? Well, the third preseason game is often considered a dress rehearsal for the real deal. It’s during game #3 that the real talent actually takes the field and fans get to see what they’re made of.

If you didn’t see the game, you might easily dismiss the loss. After all, the Redskins have RG3 or Kirk Cousins at the helm. But that wasn’t the case in their victory over the Bills. Both guys were injured, so Washington ended up looking to Rex Grossman and Pat White.

The Bills secondary was consistent—consistently bad, that is. They gave Washington receivers way too much breathing room, which enabled the QBs to absolutely destroy the defense. Just take a look at the horrible throws Grossman made. Against a real team, they wouldn’t have gone anywhere. But against a sloppy Bills squad, Grossman managed to get away with it.

So did anything good come out of the game? A little. C.J. Spiller proved decent, gaining 39 yards on 8 carries with a touchdown. You can expect the Bills to take advantage of him, tossing the ball his way as often as possible. That being said, Spiller has left the Bills to be with his family in Florida after his step-grandfather committed suicide. It’s unknown when Spiller will return to the field.

We don’t have to wait long to see how the Bills perform in the regular season. Week 1 begins for them on September 8th against New England. Hopefully they can notch a win in Game 4 and redeem themselves.
