Celtics guard Rajon Rondo and forward Kevin Garnett both earned spots on the NBA's All-Defensive first team, the league announced Monday.
Rondo finished second in the overall voting of the NBA's 30 head coaches, earning 16 first-team votes and seven second-team votes for a total of 39 points (coaches were not allowed to vote for their own player). Only Orlando'sDwight Howard (56 points, 27 first-place votes) earned more points. Miami's LeBron James (38 points), Los Angeles' Kobe Bryant (33) and Garnett (33) rounded out the first team.
Congrats to them. Meanwhile Carlos Arroyo says it looks like Rondo is ready to go.
"He's ready to go," said Boston guard Carlos Arroyo, who will likely be on the active roster tonight in case Rondo's left elbow injury flares up during tonight's game. "He's a warrior. He demonstrated that last game. We were all surprised the fact that he came back after that injury. I know he's ready. He wants to play. He wants to win."
I wonder if Carlos said that with any hint of disappointment? Not really… but part of him was probably feeling like "alright…. I actually get to PLAY in the playoffs!"
It'll be interesting to see how this goes. There's such dramatic difference between Rajon Rondo's game and Delonte West's. It'll be interesting to see how Miami reacts if there's an early substitution.
