Two years later and the call of the final play of Super Bowl XLIX still in my head. With just seconds left in the game and the Patriots pinned in their own zone, I remember hearing Bob Socci say “it’s intercepted, intercepted by Malcolm Butler, Butler has it at one!”. It will go down as one of the best endings in Super Bowl history.
But it was not an easy road for Malcolm Butler to get into the NFL as he was a undrafted cornerback from NCAA Division II West Alabama. He was also forced to drop off the football team at Hinds Community College for poor grades. He went from working the fryolator at Popeye’s in Vicksburg, Miss. to being a Super Bowl hero for the Patriots.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, Malcolm’s story will be made into a movie called “The Secondary”. The movie will be directed by Daniel Levin, who produced the Oscar-nominated movie “Lion”.
If all goes well this is going to be a must watch movie.
