The Red Sox have won the 2010 Mayor’s Cup for taking the majority of the spring training games against the Twins. The Sox beat the Twins 11-4 today behind a better effort by Buchholz who retired the final 10 batters he faced. Francona and Farrel were so concerned about how he was pitching with a runner on first that they called all of the pick-off attempts/throws to first from the dugout to keep Clay focused on the batter at the plate. Buchholz struck out seven batters in the game without a walk but he did give up four earned runs including a 2-run homer to Joe Mauer.
Ortiz hit his third home run of spring, Pedroia had three hits and V-Mart went 4-5 in the game.
