You can never have too much pitching and the Red Sox look like they have just the right amount. Wakefield continued his good spring with a solid outing against the Nats today. He pitched four scoreless innings and gave up just three hits without walking anyone. Dice-K pitched the next four and showed some signs of progres,s giving up two hits and one earned run. He did have some control issues and walked three batters.
Youk and J.D. Drew each had homers in the game and the Red Sox won easily 6-1.
The team enters the regular season mostly healthy with a deep bench and no big question marks. Today’s tune-up was against the Nats in a low pressure environment, tomorrow will be a whole different animal. However, the Red Sox seem in a better place than they have been for the past several years on the eve of opening day. The count from here on out.
