Red Sox Bats Have Dice-K’s Back!

This was the last game of my mini Fenway Park trip.  As I have posted before, I’ve been a long time Dice-K fan.  I know it’s often been a lonely club, but I was still excited to see him on the mound.  There were a lot of questions as to how the outing would go given his shortened start due to an elbow injury and his failed relief appearance in the marathon game.

Dice-K started out looking like it was going to be a “Bad Dice-K” outing.  He gave up 3 runs in the first inning and threw about 30 pitches.  However, Dice really settled in after that and only gave up one more run in the 4th inning.  His pitching line was 6 IP, 5 H, 4 ER, 2 BB, 4 K.  Dice-K was followed by Matt Albers and Daniel Bard in the win.

And the Red Sox bats really rallied behind Dice-K and gave him the lead in the 3rd inning.  The Sox put 4 runs on the board in the 3rd inning.  Adrian Gonzalez had a great game at the plate on his birthday going 3 for 5 with a HR and 2 RBIs.

The other exciting thing about the game was seeing top prospect Jose Inglesias take the field.  With the game completely in hand and with Dan Bard on the mound in the 9th, Inglesias took the field.  The final out was score with Inglesias fielding the ball and making a routine throw to first base.

The Sox are still searching for .500 ball but it’s getting a wee bit closer.
