Rangers Pummel Miller and the Red Sox

I was at the game last night.  I am pretty sure I don’t want to write this game recap, but here it goes.  Andrew Miller was coming off two pretty good outings, so I had high hopes, but it did not last very long.  Miller wouldn’t see the 3rd inning in this game.

Miller once again showed his lack of command in the 1st inning.  Miller walked the first two batters and then had a balk.  He gave up an RBI single to Young and then a sac fly to Beltre.  The Rangers were leading 2-0.  In the second inning, it went from bad to worse.  Miller gave up 2 singles and then a HR to Ian Kinsler.  Rangers lead 5-0.  Miller then gave up a walk, a single and another walk.  Ugh.  Tito came out and Miller’s night was over having pitching 1.1 innings.  Michael Bowden came into the game and tried to limit the damage.  He did a pretty good job only allowing one run to score with the bases loaded and no outs.  Bowden pitched a scoreless 3rd and then allowed a run to score in the 4th on a Beltre RBI single.  All in all, Bowden looked pretty good.

Matt Albers on the other hand, not so much.  Albers came out in relief in the 5th.  He’s continued his theme of regressing back to that guy we used to see all the time in Baltimore.  Albers gave up a solo HR to David Murphy and then a 2 run HR to Elvis Andrus.  In the 6th, Tim Wakefield took the mound for the Sox.  Wake showed why maybe he should have started the game in the first place.  Wake went out and threw 4 scoreless innings.  The crowd at Fenway roared with every out that Wake scored.

Now, I haven’t mentioned the offense of the Sox much basically because there really wasn’t any of it.  The Sox bats only got 2 hits on the night, singles by Ellsbury and Gonzalez.  Derek Holland seemed to have their number.  All in all, it was a pretty brutal game.  Add in that the Yankees beat the Blue Jays and that we are now in 2nd place in the AL East, not the best day in Red Sox baseball history.

Let’s go get them tomorrow and let’s HOPE that Bedard can finally get his first win in a Sox uni!
