We’re almost there! The Red Sox have left Florida and will play one more exhibition game in D.C. (lineup coming shortly) before they get home for the season opener against the Yanks. Here’s the latest updates to get you ready for the season.
The roster is set now that Schoeneweis has won the last spot in the bullpen. Alan Embree agreed to a minor league deal, he was only signed through April 15th prior to the extension.
Peter Abraham had this little nugget about Paps on Extra Bases:
Every locker had a box on top that could be padlocked. That’s where the players kept their cell phones, wallets, watches, etc. The only player who kept it locked was Jonathan Papelbon.
V-Mart doesn’t want to talk contract until after the season. He is willing to play wherever the team needs him in the future:
I’ll just play where they need me to play. I just want to help my team win every night. If my body lets me catch, I’ll be more than happy to do it. I really like the position and I prepare myself to catch every day.
