New York Rangers Deny Bruins Attempt To Interview Jeff Gorton

The New York Post has reported that Glen Sather and the New York Rangers have denied the Bruins request to speak to Assistant General Manager Jeff Gorton.

“I haven’t given permission to anybody to speak to anyone and I won’t as long as we’re playing,” Rangers GM Glen Sather told The Post following the club’s morning skate preceding Monday’s Game 3 against the Capitals. “And there’s a question whether I would, anyway, after it’s over.”

I mean, I get it. Why would the Rangers want their Assistant GM taking a job in the same conference with a team who could potentially make a run at some point. Don’t forget, Gorton was the man in charge when the Bruins drafted Phil Kessel, Milan Lucic and Brad Marchand. Gorton was the guy who signed Chara and Savard (though apparently, Chiarelli was heavily involved).

If we’re being honest, I wouldn’t expect the Rangers to ever give the Bruins clearance to talk to him.
