My hot takes on EJ being named the starter

—Well, arguably the Bills offensive MVP on the season is going to be sidelined. This is a big loss when you consider how well Tyrod has played for the Bills. You had to know something was wrong when he was limping towards the end of the game and the horsecollar play looked pretty bad. Tyrod is currently the Bills 2nd leading rusher and has completed 70% of his passes for 9TDs in four games. He’s been inconsistent, but make no bones about it, he’s  a big reason why the Bills have 3 wins.

—Now the Bills are going to have reshape what they are as a team. Tyrod has been a big part of the offense and now they are going back to what was originally supposed to be the plan back in August…Your QB manages the game and doesn’t fuck it up while the defense and running game dictates your goals of winning. It may be tough since the Bills are banged up at RB right now, but that has to be the plan for now. I don’t think you want EJ Manuel being the focal point of the offense.

—I really hope EJ Manuel kills it. A big part of me has always felt bad for him because while Tyrod is the better QB, the Bills didn’t do EJ any favors when he was the appointed starter (See: Doug Marrone benching him after 14 starts). I still feel a number of fans and some mainstream media didn’t want to give him a chance coming out of college because he wasn’t touted as being a 1st round QB. He’s a total underdog story now and has the opportunity to prove a shitload of people wrong. Unlike the past, EJ should have more weapons/better coaching at his disposal which should make it seem a bit more fun to watch him play.  Having him prove everyone wrong would be very bonerrific.

For the lunatic fringe that is obsessed with making Matt Cassel out to be Frank Reich, the above stat from Coller should shut you the fuck up. And if that doesn’t get the point across, consider that Cassel is 9-17 in his last 26 starts and has 4 300-yard passing games since 2009. Again, this isn’t me saying EJ Manuel is awesome, but he’s about the same as Matt Cassel.

They both suck.

Anyone in the lamestream media bitching about the whole QB veteran shit is doing so because they are trying to stay face to their sources within the Bills who are not happy with Whaley. Oh, so David Lee (20 bucks says he’s Graham’s source since Lee is boys with Parcells and TG covered both in Miami and is friends with Bill) said that Cassel is like a coach in the room? Hey, how many times in the past has a coach said that about a veteran backup QB? LIKE ALL OF THEM!!! THAT’S THE ONLY REDEEMING QUALITY VETERAN BACKUPS HAVE! [Yells from top of a mountain]. Of course, aside from kissing the asses of their sources, controversy and panic creates cash/traffic hits in the writing world.

There’s nothing to be pissed off about here. Its the backup QB and last I checked most of them suck balls and when you call on them to play for an extended period of time, your team is in trouble. It amazes me that some of these hubris ass clowns are still chirping about this. No one wanted Cassel to start in August. No one was crying when the Bills cut him and NOT ONE TEAM TRIED TO SIGN HIM. Yet, Whaley gets a 5th rounder and this narrative is still being pounded into the ground. I so badly hope EJ plays well and Cassel sucks balls with Dallas, that way I can deliver a brown paper bag filled with a big steaming pile of shit to Jon Wawrow and Tim Graham’s front porch.

Final word: Even with a healthy Tyrod, I didn’t give the Bills much of a chance to beat the Bengals. Maybe its a trap game since the Bengals are 5-0, but its probably gonna go their way. I can only hope the Bills beat the Jags in London and then get Tyrod back after the bye week. Having a 1-1 record if my plan goes accordingly is something I think most fans would sign up for.
