MLB Network Announces All-Star Game Programming

I was about to post this press release when details of the LeBron James one hour infomercial were released by ESPN.

Now I can put this up hopefully without breaking news. This is MLB Network’s schedule over the next few days leading up to and past the MLB All-Star Game on Tuesday. In addition, MLB Network airs the Triple A All-Star Game on Wednesday.

MLB NETWORK ALL-STAR GAME PROGRAMMING BEGINS SATURDAY, JULY 10

2010 All-Star Game Coverage Includes Batting Practice, Interviews with Current & Former All-Stars and MLB All-Star Red Carpet Show   

MLB Network’s Bob Costas, Peter Gammons, Sean Casey, Barry Larkin, Al Leiter, Kevin Millar, Dan Plesac & Harold Reynolds to Provide Coverage On-Site

MLB Network to Televise 1965 All-Star Game, Featuring 17 Hall of Famers, on Sunday, July 11

Secaucus, N.J., July 6, 2010 – MLB All-Stars past and present will be featured in MLB Network’s coverage leading up to the 2010 MLB All-Star Game at Angel Stadium in Anaheim, Calif. MLB Network will provide 11 hours of live coverage in Anaheim beginning with All-Star Monday at All-Star Media Day, featuring interviews and reports from the 2010 N.L and A.L. All-Star players and managers on July 12 at 12:30 p.m. ET/9:30 a.m. PT. Kevin Millar, three-time All-Star Sean Casey, 12-time All-Star Barry Larkin, two-time All-Star Al Leiter and two-time All-Star Harold Reynolds will host MLB Tonight All-Star Batting Practice, including features on the 1970 and 1989 All-Star Games and interviews with current and former All-Stars, alongside Bob Costas, Greg Amsinger, Peter Gammons, Matt Vasgersian and Tom Verducci. MLB Tonight All-Star Batting Practice will air before the Home Run Derby on July 12 at 4:30 p.m. ET/1:30 p.m. PT and before the 81^st MLB All-Star Game on July 13 at 5:00 p.m. ET/2:00 p.m. PT.

All of the 2010 All-Stars and Hall of Famers Rod Carew and Reggie Jackson will be featured in MLB Network’s production of the 2010 MLB All-Star Red Carpet Show, hosted by Amsinger, Reynolds, Millar and Hazel Mae on Tuesday, July 13 at 4:00 p.m. ET/1:00 p.m. PT. An abbreviated edition of the MLB All-Star Red Carpet Show will air at 7:30 p.m. ET/4:30 p.m. PT. MLB Tonight, MLB Network’s signature studio show, will air live from Angel Stadium immediately following both the Home Run Derby and the All-Star Game with Amsinger, Vasgersian, Reynolds and three-time All-Star Dan Plesac.

On Sunday, July 11, MLB Network will televise the 1965 All-Star Game for the first time since its original airing. The game, played 45 years ago to the day of the 2010 MLB All-Star Game and won by the N.L. by a score of 6-5, featured Hall of Famer Juan Marichal as MVP as well as fellow HOFers Hank Aaron, Ernie Banks, Roberto Clemente, Don Drysdale, Bob Gibson, Sandy Koufax, Willie Mays, Frank Robinson, Willie Stargell, Billy Williams, Al Kaline, Harmon Killebrew, Mickey Mantle, Brooks Robinson, Carl Yastrzemski and A.L. Manager Al Lopez. MLB Network’s telecast of the game will begin at 8:00 p.m. ET/5:00 p.m. PT with an introduction from MLB Network’s Bob Costas.

“As all of the events during All-Star Week are created with the fans in mind, it was important to increase MLB Network’s number of live hours of coverage around this year’s All-Star Game,” said Tony Petitti, MLB Network’s president and CEO. “We’ll feature All-Stars past and present in our live programming and in our telecast of the 1965 All-Star Game, which was called by two broadcasting greats: Jack Buck and Joe Garagiola.”

Additional programming includes the Triple-A All-Star Game called by MLB Network’s Mitch Williams and Philadelphia Phillies’ broadcaster Tom McCarthy on Wednesday, July 14 at 7:00 p.m. ET live from Allentown, Pa., home of the Lehigh Valley IronPigs, the Philadelphia Phillies Triple-A affiliate. MLB Network will also air All-Time Games featuring the 1975, 1990 and 2000 All-Star Games, past Home Run Derbies and All-Star highlights programming from July 10-15.
