For three seasons (1991-1993), Lenny Dykstra and Mitch Williams were teammates, playing for the Philadelphia Phillies. At the recent Philly Sports Roast, the 1993 National League champs were anything but cordial.
The evening was supposed to be a laugh-filled night benefiting the Darren Daulton Foundation, but once the drinks started flowing and both Dykstra and Williams were given microphones…the expletives started to fly.
Watch.
[youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XpdKkHodpcE]Now, some CliffsNotes on what the two men were referring to.
What Dykstra was referring to about Williams:
During the 1993 World Series, Williams gave up a walk-off home run to Joe Carter of the Toronto Blue Jays.
In 2014, Williams was let go from his job as an analyst for MLB Network after allegations that he verbally abused an umpire at his 10-year-old son’s baseball game.
What Williams was referring to about Dykstra:
In 2010, Dykstra admitted to using steroids during his playing career.
A year later, it was rumored that the former All-Star attempted to “invest” his son Cutter’s $700,000 signing bonus, but ended up losing it. Both Dykstras have refuted this claim.
Dykstra served six-and-a-half months in jail for bankruptcy fraud, concealment of assets and money laundering.
After it was all said and done (the pair reportedly hugged it out after the event), Williams hit the Twitters and aired his final thoughts.
