Lackey Placed on the DL

The Red Sox have placed John Lackey on the 15 Day DL with a right elbow strain and Scott Atchison has been recalled to replace him on the roster.  Now the question is how serious his elbow strain is or if this is more of a mental break for Lackey.  Probably a little bit of both.  I will say…as someone who only knows anything about baseball by watching games…Lackey’s velocity seemed to decrease as his outing progressed. 

Of course there was a little comedy and drama about Atchison being called up.  Some of the beat writers stated that Atchison was in the clubhouse and didn’t know what the corresponding roster move was.  The Sox announced that Atchy was just dropping by to pick up something and that was it.  About an hour later, it was announced that Lackey was on the DL and Atchy was recalled.  Guess that is what he was picking up.  tee, hee, hee…
