Daniel Kaplan of Sports Business Journal tweeted Tuesday that an NFL team in Toronto is “more logical for international expansion” than a team in London. This information comes from a press conference held by Stephen Ross, primary owner of the Miami Dolphins on Tuesday. In a lengthy conference touching on many league issues, Ross claims the league has plans to expand, and that Toronto is likely to happen before a London, England expansion. According to Kaplan’s tweet, Ross also cited Buffalo’s declining population in reference to a potential move to Toronto. (WGR.COM)
You guys should know how I feel about the Bills possibly moving when Ralph Wilson passes away. In short: I have a bad feeling about it. This latest news sure as hell doesn’t help matters. Now, the reason why I say this is because when you have an NFL Owner come out and reference the declining population of Buffalo as a reason for the team to move to Toronto, you have a problem. If we are going to run the whole “Us vs Them” war of Buffalo vs LA/Toronto, the NFL needs to either stay neutral or get on Buffalo’s side, for the team to have a fighting chance for staying put. Having an NFL owner declare this, more or less, could be perceived as what the majority of NFL owners think.
This is the NFL, a entity that without question are the large 850lb gorilla in the room when it comes to the Bills future. Don’t think for one second they can’t influence anyone when it comes to doing something they want. They are the first family of mobsters, a monopoly, an empire. An empire that loves money. Sorry, but if the NFL’s goal is to make the most possible money off the Bills franchise, then going to Toronto or LA should be a slam dunk for them.
BTW, this Stephen Ross guy, is a complete clown. His whole “Wow, lets have J.Lo or Serena Williams buy into the team for flash and pizazz” makes my skin crawl.
