The Red Sox have placed Jed Lowrie and Boof Bonser on the DL retroactive to March 26.
Jeremy Hermida is recovering from his hamstring injury. Terry Francona commented on it today:
“I don’t know how realistic playing tomorrow is or not,” said Red Sox manager Terry Francona. “I think very realistic is Friday. Again, that doesn’t mean he won’t play tomorrow. I don’t know if realistic is the right word. I don’t know if he would [play Thursday]. But I think Friday is very realistic.”
The team is taking it slow with Tazawa and has not made a decision about surgery.
Dice-K will pitch in relief of Wakefield in D.C. on Saturday and then go on a rehab assignment in the minors before joining the Red Sox in the regular season.
