Are you frustrated and confused by how the St. Louis Blues are playing of late? You’re not alone. The Blues are 5-5-0 over their last 10 games and are falling further and further behind the Nashville Predators. You’d think Ken Hitchcock has answers, but he seems as confused by the ugly play on the ice as everyone else.
It sounds like the players aren’t following direction.
I asked Hitch from a coaching perspective, why he feels the team wants to play a different way … #stlblues

Hitch's response: "I don't know. That's probably a question you should ask in the room because those directions aren't coming from us."

That doesn’t sound good. There has been speculation that Hitchcock has lost the room and these comments support that argument. It sounds like the players are following their own agenda and aren’t sticking to whatever Hitchcock and company drew up before the game.
The more serious issue may be the fact the Blues crumple when placed under pressure by a strong forecheck and it’s unclear if that’s due to a poor strategy or players marching to their own drum. The Blues could use some additional size and strength defensively, but that’s an issue that’s been discussed into the ground on this blog.
