Fun quotes from the Maple Leafs about Blues’ blowout win

The Blues’ 6-1 win over the Maple Leafs was a pretty lopsided affair. It took over 10 minutes for the Leafs to register their first shot on goal and the Blues had no issues moving the puck around the ice in a dominant display.

There are a lot of ways you could describe the 6-1 beating if you’re a Blues fan, but it’s always more enjoyable hearing from the players who were on the receiving end. Enjoy reading what the Maple Leafs had to say after being overwhelmed by the Blues in their own building.

David Booth, via the National Post:

“That was frustrating. If you don’t come to compete against a team like that, they’ll pick you apart, and that’s what they did.”

Coach Peter Horachek, via The Star:

“They beat us all over the ice. They beat us from the beginning to the end. They beat us all over the place.”

Horachek sounds like he’s close to going off on a Dr. Seuss style rant.

Of course, the Toronto media heaped a ton of blame on Phil Kessel after this loss. Apparently Kessel was invisible yet again and that was a major factor in the team’s 6-1 loss to the Blues. Did the media miss all of the defensive lapses and the fact the goaltending was weak as well? Amazing stuff up in Toronto.

Though you do have to feel for those required to watch …

Regardless, the Blues played some of their best hockey of the year against one of the worst teams in the league. The Maple Leafs are a pit of despair and the Blues added on to their misery. Even though the opponent wasn’t the most difficult, a big 6-1 win on the road should boost the Blues’ confidence.
