Crawford SLAMs Rangers to Give Bedard His First WIN!

I was at this game as well and this recap is much more enjoyable to write.  I guess this question has been answered: What is gonna happen first…Bedard getting his first win or Wakefield getting his 200th?

Bedard took the mound for the Sox hoping to even the series and that is just what he did, with a wee bit of help from the offense.  Bedard got into a hole early with some untimely hits and a little bit of a lack of command.  Bedard gave up an RBI hit to Former Sox David Murphy that allowed Former Sox Adrian Beltre to score.  Bedard gave up 2 more runs in the 3rd on a Young single and then Beltre hitting into a sac grounder.  The Sox were down 3-0 early and for a moment it looked like Bedard might not have a chance for that Sox win.  In the bottom of the 3rd, Jed Lowrie hit an RBi single to score Adrian Gonzalez.  We were crawling back.

In the 4th inning though, we did more than crawl.  Reddick hit a single and then Salty hit a 2 run HR to tie the game.  Mike Aviles who was in the game for Jed Lowrie hit an RBI single for the Sox to take the lead 4-3.  The Sox weren’t done yet.  With the bases loaded, Carl Crawford comes to the plate.  Carl hit his first GRAND SLAM in a Sox uniform.  EPIC.  AWESOME.  Ellsbury finished out the inning with an RBI single.  The Sox scored 8 runs in the inning and were now leading 9-3.

In the 6th inning, the Sox added on 3 more runs with Dustin Pedroia hit a wall ball bases clearing double that had the Sox leading 12-3.  Bedard finished the night after the 6th inning.  He struggled with his command early on, but settled in nicely and really dominated in the final innings.  Bedard’s pitching line for the night was 6 IP, 5 H, 3 R, 4 BBs and 6 Ks.  He pitched well and well enough to get a win.  In the 7th, Dan Wheeler came out in relief of Bedard.  Wheeler pitched a scoreless 7th inning and then ran into a wee bit of trouble in the 8th.  Wheeler gave up an RBI single to Josh Hamilton.  Wheeler then gave up another RBI single to Adrian Beltre.  Napoli got an RBI on a sac fly.  The Sox were not leading 12-6.  Tito pulled Wheeler and Franklin Morales came in to get the final out in the 8th.  Morales pitched the 9th inning as well.  He gave up a lead off homerun to pinch hitter German and the Sox were now leading 12-7.  Morales got the 3 outs we needed and the RED SOX WON!
