Yan Gomes, who sprained his MCL on a dirty slide at the plate on April 11th, will begin a rehab assignment with the Lake County Captains on Friday, May 15th; Gomes isn’t ready to catch yet, but he will DH until he can regain flexibility in that knee. For Gomes, the test will be whether he can run and change direction laterally without limping or pain. He has been doing agility drills and throwing from behind the plate prior to games in Cleveland during the last week and has been pronounced ready for the next step.

T.J. House will also begin his rehab assignment on Friday in Eastlake. He’s scheduled to pitch three innings to get work in after being placed on the disabled list on May 1st with a sore left shoulder. On Tuesday, House threw a two-inning bullpen session to test the shoulder and said it felt good.
