Bryce Harper and Paul Pierce Send Fans Home Happy

After hitting five home runs in his previous two games, all eyes were on Bryce Harper Saturday afternoon. Then, with the score tied in the ninth inning and a man on base…it happened.

That’s right, the 22-year-old Washington wunderkind went deep off Cody Martin to win it for the Nationals and, in the process, making him the first player to hit six home runs in three games since Hee-Seop Choi did it with the Los Angeles Dodgers from June 10-12, 2005.

“He’s the hottest player in the world right now,” the Atlanta Braves reliever said. “He’s putting good swings on everything, he’s seeing the ball well, his balance is good. You can’t really do any one thing to him that’s going to get him out. I think you just have to keep mixing it up, and that just wasn’t the right pitch there, I guess.”

Less than an hour after Harper’s second career walk off, the Washington Bullets Wizards were looking to take a 2-1 lead in their best of seven series against the Atlanta Hawks when this happened…courtesy of the seemingly ageless Paul Pierce.

So…what are we looking at here? This.

Both DC teams beat a team from Atlanta at home with a walk-off/buzzer beater by a playing wearing the Number 34.

I’m going to wager to guess that’s never happened before.
