Back in November, Paul Flannery wrote a great piece for Boston Magazine about why Boston needs to erect a statue for Celtics legend Bill Russell. Well, as Boston.com reports this afternoon,, he's far from alone on the idea.
Boston city councilors John Connolly and Ayanna Pressley have filed a resolution asking Boston's businesses, leaders and "philanthropic organizations" to support the notion.
President Obama also recently put his 2 cents in on the need for a Russell statue. During Bill's presidential medal of freedom ceremony last month, Obama commented that he hoped to see Boston honor Russell with a statue in the near future.
If you're a Facebook user, be sure to go and "like" the page dedicated to getting a statue here in Boston for Mr. Russell.
