Bunting adorns the ballpark walls, the sod is in perfect order, and the smell of cooking hot dogs is in the air. The long wait is over; opening day has arrived. Every team enters the season with new hope and with their ace on the mound.
Even with cloudy skies at Fenway today the outlook could not be brighter for the 2009 Red Sox. The team had a successful spring with the return of Mike Lowell, the absence of “clicking” in Big Papi’s wrist, and Lowrie hitting the cover off of the ball. Buchholz showed new found confidence and the team suddenly found itself with an abundance of starting pitching.
