Another Night, Another Walk-off

The Rangers jumped out to a 4-0 lead early in the game and Josh Beckett looked like he would not last long.  Mike Lowell made the most of his start at DH by hitting a long homer over the monster in the second to get the Red Sox on the board.    J.D. Drew showed he could still contribute by hitting a grand slam in the third.  Last night’s hero Darnell McDonald hit a homer in the forth to give the Sox a 6-4 lead.  Mike Lowell drove in another run in the fifth to increase the lead to 7-4.

Josh Beckett settled in and kept the Rangers at bay until the seventh where he ran into some trouble.  He gave up a 3-run homer to Hamilton and the game was tied.  The bullpen came in and pitched very well; Bard, Paps, and Oki pitched a combined five innings and only gave up one hit.

The game stayed tied until the bottom of the twelfth where Scutaro hit a 1-out single just through the infield.  J.D. Drew flew out and Scutaro tagged and advanced to second on the play getting into scoring position.  Washington opted to walk Pedroia with first base open allowing Youk to come to the plate with runners on first and second and two outs.  Youkilis came through with a line drive off of the deepest part of the monster bringing in Scutaro.
