Ah, welcome to the age of the Internet. The Bruins were in a five game losing streak and you had people like me who were telling Chiarelli to blow up the team (and I still believe that) and you had people saying to relax. Then the Bruins go out and absolutely wax the Blackhawks and those who were telling everyone to relax were doing the above.
There’s no middle ground, no wiggle room. You’re either a pink hat clusterfuck or a negative asshole. I don’t care where you think I fall, but I did advocate for a fire sale yesterday.
Anyway, the Bruins and Canucks drop the gloves tonight at the TD Garden. I guess I could do a 2011 comparison but what’s the point. The Canucks are a drastically different team and the Bruins will be going up against journeyman Jacob Markstrom or Eddie Lack. Neither goalie is Ryan Miller, who is now on IR, which means the Bruins will either turn one of these guys into a Vezina Trophy winner or absolutely crush them.
The bad part is that if they dismantle the Canucks, suddenly everyone is buying in that the Bruins are this destructive force and not a team that lost 5 games in a row. Suddenly everyone believes they shouldn’t sell at the deadline or in the offseason and they should try to bolster this team TO MAKE A CUP RUNNNNNNNNNN.
