Future Roster Update: The Indians announced today that they will recall the veteran left hander, Bruce Chen, to make the start against the Twins Saturday. As normal, the player to be demoted is yet to be announced.

Player of the Game

Although everyone had a piece in tonight’s win, it was Brandon Moss‘ two run double in the seventh that scored the Indians 8th run and put the game on ice. Moss then scored the team’s ninth run after taking third on a wild pitch and was responsible for the tenth as well with a solo home run in the ninth. While his POG score of 6.93 was the top by a large margin, also deserving recognition were Mike Aviles, who reached base four times, scored twice and knocked in one and Carlos Santana who reached twice, scored twice and knocked in one.

Feathers Up

There was some more positivity coming out of the reconfigured lineup today, although it could have been slightly more productive. To start the game, Jason Kipnis lead off with a double, then Carlos Santana added a single up the middle. Kipnis was thrown out trying to score on the play, but after Ryan Raburn was hit by a pitch, Santana ended up scoring himself on a wild pitch.

The following inning, a flurry of five straight batters reaching gave starter Danny Duffy an early exit. Nick Swisher lead things off with a single, after which Mike Aviles was hit in the thigh. Lonnie Chisenhall crushed a double to deep right and was followed by RBI singles from Brett Hayes and Mike Aviles.

After removing Duffy, the Indians well balanced attack continued throughout the night with one run in the fourth and four in the seventh. Each starting hitter had at least one hit and seven hitters knocked in runs. While the RBI stats aren’t necessarily important, what is important is that they were able to extend innings with base hits, rather than getting one on and hoping for the rare home run.

Upon receiving the most coveted object among Indians starters, run support, Carlos Carrasco did not squander it. Cookie pitched his best game of his last three starts, going seven innings and allowing three runs while striking out six.

Feathers Down

Despite scoring ten runs for the second time this season, the Indians are still in last place in the AL Central.
