Minor League Team to Wear Lando Calrissian Jerseys

PJ Walters

So many teams have held “Star Wars” nights that, let’s be honest…it would be easier to do stories (blog posts?) on teams that aren’t honoring the ironic movie.

Then there’s the Potomac Nationals.

The “P-Nats” have gone and done the impossible. The single-A affiliate of the Washington Nationals have made me, the most jaded of “Star Wars Night” fans to take notice.

And all it took was this.

Oh, your eyes aren’t deceiving you. That is most definitely Lando Calrissian’s face on the front of a baseball jersey. It almost makes me want to cry.

“This is the first time, I think, that Billy Dee Williams’s face has been on a jersey, so we’ve got that going for us,” Potomac Nationals spokesman Bryan Holland said. “We like to stand out. It’s going to be a nice complement to Star Wars Day. And the Cloud City aspect of it just makes it all the more cheeky.”

Cheeky? Cheeky?!? Try absolutely glorious, Bryan.

I might be going out on a limb here, but following their game against the Frederick Keys on June 14, the Nationals should not auction off those jerseys for charity…they should send them straight to Cooperstown and the Smithsonian.
