John Axford’s Son to Throw Out First Pitch

-7

John Axford recently assumed the role of closer for the Colorado Rockies and while there is no guarantee that he’ll hit the field during the team’s upcoming series against the Los Angeles Dodgers, one Axford will.

John’s son Jameson.

During Spring Training in Scottsdale, Arizona, the two-year-old was bitten twice on his right foot by a rattlesnake and ended up spending four weeks in the intensive care units of hospitals in both Colorado and Arizona. Now, on the eve of his first skin graft surgery, the Junior Ax Man will be at Coors Field Friday to throw out the first pitch.

“It’ll put a smile on my face, for sure,” Axford said. “Maybe tears in my eyes, too.”

Yeah. Something tells me the pitcher won’t be the only one suffering from a case of the feels.
