While Hanna-Barbera has maintained that their popular cartoon character Yogi Bear is not named after the popular New York Yankees catcher…"Yogi Berra" the racehorse clearly is.
Matter of fact, the three-year-old colt is actually owned by Jessica Steinbrenner, the daughter of the late Yankees owner, and the man who hired Berra to manage the team back in 1984, George Steinbrenner.
Why is this a thing all of a sudden?
Well, much the Hall of Fame catcher, who hit a home run in his first big league at bat, Yogi the horse took the track and won its debut race over the weekend. And through the magic of the internets, the 88-year-old Hall of Famer was able to watch his namesake's every trot at Tampa Bay Downs.

"He was just excited," Berra's granddaughter Lindsay told The Hall, "and wanted to know how much he paid."
And in case you were wondering, the horse, who raced at 8-1 odds, surely made some folks happy. You can watch the race in its entirety HERE.
