This Week in Baseball Cards: September 6

This week’s This Week in Baseball Cards reads like a bad “Turn Back the Clock” promotion at a ballpark.

Unfortunately, without a lot going on in the world…it pretty much is.

Here’s Bo Rosny with This Week in Baseball Cards!

Last week it was announced that 48-year-old Jamie Moyer would be starting his rehab in Clearwater, Florida. This is considered to be “serious baseball news”, and Moyer is believed to have a legitimate shot to pitch in the major leagues next year if healthy.

Meanwhile, Howard Johnson is slightly less than two years older than Moyer. He played for the Rockland Boulders this past weekend. This is considered a “heartwarming story” or “publicity stunt”. After all, Johnson is much too old to have a shot at the major leagues, right?

Both Johnson’s and Moyer’s cards come from the first baseball card set I ever collected, 1987 Topps.

Finally, in honor of Star Wars Day at AT&T Park, here’s a gem from the first card set of any kind that I ever collected, 1983 Topps Return of the Jedi.
