Keith Tkachuk’s son Matthew Tkachuk has committed to the London Knights of the Ontario Hockey League. The announcement came from former Blues skater and current Knights GM Basil McRae. Tkachuk has competed in the U.S. Development Program and posted some pretty strong numbers for the under 18 squad.

Via the London Knights:

Tkachuk had an outstanding year with the US National U18 Team and the USNTDP Juniors. In a total of 89 games played, the St. Louis, Missouri native scored 51 goals and 78 assists for a total of 129 points and 194 PIMs.

At age 17, Tkachuk won’t be eligible for the NHL Draft until 2016. He has displayed some impressive talent with the Junior Blues and the U.S. Development teams, but his biggest test will come with the London Knights in the OHL. That test begins in August for training camp.

What number will Tkachuk wear? Number 7, of course.
