The Vladimir Sobotka rumor has once again found new life. Each time a current Blues skater goes down with an injury, media outlets jump on the chance to discuss the club bringing Sobotka back for the playoffs. This topic has been beaten to death, but let’s say it one more time – Sobotka isn’t coming back this season.
One more time for good measure – Sobotka is NOT coming back in 2014-15.
Need proof? Ask Sobotka’s agent Petr Svoboda, via an interview on STLToday.com.
“He’s not coming back this year, let’s put it that way.”
However, that doesn’t mean Sobotka won’t be on the Blues in the future. Doug Armstrong has been keeping in touch with Sobotka’s agent and the two sides will apparently revisit the topic in early May.
Would Sobotka even be interested in the Blues? Yes, according to his agent.
“I’m not closing doors on anything. Obviously Vladi liked St. Louis. He played for them for (four) years and really enjoyed the city and the fans. Obviously he wanted a bigger deal last year, but when everything presented itself, he made his decision. But Vladi is not one of those guys that will hold grudges. We’ve just got to see what his thought process is for next year.”
Long story short, Sobotka’s long-term future is still up in the air and the Blues are still in the mix. However, his short-term future – specifically over the next couple months – is decided and the Blues won’t be calling on his services.
