LeBron James had a chance to tie the game with 14 seconds to play and the Heat down 2, but he missed the first free throw. Then on the next play, Glen Davis (a game high 16) nailed 2 free throws with 6 seconds left to put the C's up 3.
So to recap: MVP candidate LeBron James had a chance to tie things up and couldn't. Glen Davis had a chance to force Miami to make a 3… and he did. The C's end up winning this 85-82. Rajon Rondo finished the game with a triple double: 11 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists.
The C's defensive plan worked pretty damn well. They cut off the driving lanes most of the night and forced Miami to take a lot of jumpers. Miami's 3-point shooters couldn't find the range at all… hitting only 3 of their 16 attempts. The gameplan of letting LeBron be the ring leader and turning the rest of the Heat into the Cavs of years past continues to work and Dwyane Wade continues to be frustrated by the Celtics. He finished with 16 on 6/17 shooting.
The Celtics came out frigidly cold in the first half but used a 35-18 3rd quarter to build up what turned out to be an insurmountable lead… despite getting outscored 21-11 in the 4th. Paul Pierce scored 1 point. ONE. Luckily, Von Wafer and Glen Davis combined for 26 off the bench. They were the only bench players to get any run. Nate Robinson got 5 mintues of PT… and Avery Bradley played a few seconds to end the first quarter.
Good win by the undermanned C's. They were allowed to play physically for most of the game (aside for a 3 minute stretch late in the 4th where the game was suddenly called differently for some reason) and Miami simply can't handle being knocked around.
