The Red Sox took a turn from their red hot winning streak and now have lost 2 straight games to the Cleveland Indians. Jake Peavy put the team in a hole early and while the team battled back to tie the game, the Indians would pull ahead in the next inning and cruise to victory.
Jake Peavy gave up 2 runs before he was able to record an out in the 1st inning. Brantley and Chisenhall both hit RBI singles to put the Indians up 2-0. The Indians would score their 3rd run of the inning when Raburn hit into a double play, but Brantley scored from 3rd base. Sox 0-3. In the 3rd inning the Sox finally got on the board when Xander Bogaerts hit a solo HR to left. Sox 1-3. This is the 2nd straight day that Xander has hit a homerun and it’s been great watching him continue to develop into an absolute rock star. Peavy settled down after the 1st and was able to keep the score where it was and allow the Sox a chance to get back into it.
In the 6th inning the Sox grabbed another run when Herrera hit an RBI single to score Jonny Gomes. Sox 2-3. The Sox then tied the game in the 7th when Pedey hit an RBI double to score Bogaerts. Sox 3-3. Peavy took the mound again in the bottom of the inning when he probably should have been done. Peavy left the mound with 2 runners on and one out and Andrew Miller was in the game. Miller gave up a 2 run RBI double to Bourn and the Indians were on top 5-3. Breslow took the mound in the 8th and found himself in a little bit of trouble as well, but Burke Badenhop came in and got the double play ball they needed to end the inning. The Sox batters didn’t have a rally in them and fell in the 9th to lose their 2nd straight game to the Indians.
